You Are Not Alone
Your life does not have to feel this hard.
Whether you are struggling in life, in your relationships, with unhealed trauma, anxiety, depression, or grief, or simply do not feel like yourself, there is a path through it.
At Family Legacy Therapy, we meet you where you are. Our team serves Stockton and the surrounding areas in person, and all of California via video, with therapy that is grounded, client-centered, and built around you.
About Psychotherapy
Psychotherapy is a collaborative process between a client and a trained mental health professional. It is designed to help individuals, couples, and families understand themselves more deeply, process difficult experiences, and develop the tools needed to navigate life with greater clarity and intention.
Unlike medication, which addresses symptoms, psychotherapy works at the root. It explores the patterns, beliefs, and experiences that shape how we think, feel, and relate to others. Over time, that exploration creates lasting change.
Our clinicians are trained across multiple therapeutic approaches, allowing them to tailor treatment to each person rather than applying a one-size-fits-all method. Regardless of your struggle, our clinicians are here to help you reconnect with yourself and move toward the life you are working toward.
We are now taking Blue Cross Medi-Cal.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and it's normal to have questions. Here's what the first steps usually look like.
Your first call or contact. Someone from our team will ask a few basic questions to understand what you're looking for and make sure we're the right fit. You can share as much or as little as you're comfortable with.
A few routine questions. We ask every person the same set of questions, including some about safety, your current location, and an emergency contact. Please don't read anything into them. We ask everyone, and it helps us support you well and reach you if we ever need to, especially with telehealth.
Paperwork. Before your first session, you'll receive a few forms to complete. They cover basic demographic information, safety, and how we work together, including privacy and what you can expect from therapy. Take your time with them, and let us know if anything is unclear or you'd like help filling them out.
Your first session. Your Psychotherapist will get to know you, hear what brought you in, and talk about what you'd like to change. There's no pressure to tell your whole story right away. You set the pace.
Your questions are welcome. If a question feels too personal, or you'd like to know why we're asking it, just say so. We're happy to explain.

Many of our clients meet with us online, and it can work just as well as in person.
What you'll need. A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and a reliable internet connection. We'll send you a secure link before your session.
Choose a private space. Find a quiet spot where you feel comfortable talking. Headphones can help with privacy. If you're in a car, please make sure you're parked and not driving.
Your location matters. At the start of each session, we'll confirm where you are. This is a standard part of telehealth, so we know how to reach help if there's ever an emergency.
If the connection drops. We'll have a backup plan, usually a phone call, and we'll go over it with you in your first session.
Your privacy. We use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. We ask that you don't record sessions, so that everyone's privacy is protected.
Not sure telehealth is right for you? Tell us. We can talk through your options.
